BCC OFFERS
E911 TELECOMMUNICATIONS ACADEMY
Brevard Community College Criminal Justice Center Melbourne Campus has now graduated two classes from its'
E911 Telecommunications Course. Our BCC/CJC Coordinator Marian Shelpman has been diligently working with several interested
local agency representatives to continue developing this vocational course. The course is designed to provide basic knowledge
and operational skills for 911 dispatchers and is held in the evening hours, at BCC Melbourne and local police agency training
facilities in Brevard county. Thanks to Lisa DiLiberto Titusville PD Communications Supervisor (and our own SCPSCA Secretary)
who researched and suggested using the CritiCall Training and Assessment software. Steve O'Conor, our Brevard E911 Coordinator
liked the idea and got approval from the County to fund the purchase of the software, which is to be installed on the five
computers we now have in our Academy Computer Lab! A
BIG Thanks to Steve, Lisa, and
Marian for bringing this together for our Academy!
The next scheduled dates and times of the course will begin in August 2006, with class times from 6PM-10PM Monday
thru Thursday. The schedule tentatively will include two Saturday classes from 8AM to 5PM and one Saturday class from
9AM to 1PM. We encourage you to spread the news about our academy to anyone you may know looking to get into the
field of Public Safety dispatch.
